See what’s new at belArts!

belArts celebrates its 1st birthday on 2 May (5pm - 8pm) straight after our Long Pose session! We invite you and your friends to join us in celebrating this special arts school that is dedicated to supporting your creative pathway! Entry is free - just BYO drinks and a plate of nibbles to share. So we can get an idea of numbers, please RSVP Isabella at hello@belarts.com.au.

Our next term of regular classes starts up on 20 April and we are now taking enrolments at https://www.belarts.com.au/appointments-4 The majority of classes are capped at 12 students, so we recommend booking now to avoid missing out on your favourite class.

belArts & Chrome Street Studios are delighted to welcome back guest artist: Marta Larzabal in another of her transformative Mindful Art Workshops: Awakening Your Purpose!

In a time of uncertainty and overwhelming choice, this workshop offers space to rediscover what truly matters. Clarify your intentions and create an intuitive abstract artwork using watercolour, collage and drawing, guided through meditation.

Suitable for beginners and experienced artists. This Workshop is facilitated by Marta Larzabal, a visual artist from Brisbane with over 14 years exhibiting experience sharing her extensive knowledge of intuitive art practice and meditation.

Open Art Classes with Isabella Allis - Start back up on 20 April!

Isabella offers weekly open classes in oils, graphite, and charcoal, or other mediums. These drawing and painting classes are tailored to the individual student depending on their desired pathway and as such are suitable for adults or students of 15 years+ for all skill levels. Bring your own reference photos or still life objects, or they can be provided for you.

8 x Tuesday Afternoons - Soft Pastels with Karen Christiansen - Starts on 21 April!

Explore the wonderful medium of soft pastels! Each 3-hour lesson will involve introducing a concept, a demonstration of a technique, and then completion of a small exercise, study or painting during the class, with personal feedback.

Some topics include: understanding materials, composition, understanding values, underpainting, choosing a colour palette, the importance of edges, and finishing a painting

1 x Sunday Introduction to Oil Painting - Portrait Colour Mixing- with Isabella Allis

In this one day introduction to oil painting workshop, Isabella will guide you through through practical exercises & techniques with a focus on colour mixing for portraits!

This is your opportunity to explore this medium before investing in oil painting materials. You will have access to the materials for the duration of the course and Isabella will provide you with advice on materials should you wish to pursue this wonderful medium

If you are interested in doing the following 5 week Portrait in Oils Course, then this Introductory Workshop is a prerequisite for beginners.

5 x Sundays Live Portrait Painting in Oils Course with Isabella Allis

In this unique painting the portrait from life course, you will have the opportunity of taking the same costumed life pose from drawing to completed oil painting with valuable instruction, demonstrations and feedback by artist, Isabella Allis. The higher cost of the course includes the same live model posing for a total of 15 hours over the course!

The course suits intermediate levels (15 year+ students/ adults), however beginners who complete the preceding 1-day Oil Painting Introduction (Colour Mixing) Workshop are welcome

5 x Monday Night Block Figure Drawing Fundamentals Class with Wayne Van Eyk!

This introductory drawing course sets you up for drawing the human figure. It emphasizes developing a strong foundation of key strategies using the classic Atelier plaster casts, which allows you to transition to drawing the figure from life. Tutored Life Drawing sessions, using a live model, are held on the 4th Wednesday every month. You have the opportunity to add on a Tutored Life Drawing Session at a discounted rate when enrolling in this course.

This course suits complete beginners as well as intermediate artists developing these skills

2 x Sundays Portrait Drawing Workshop with Artist Wayne Van Eyk!

Due to its popularity, belArts is excited to once again offer this valuable and practical workshop!

Explore the structure and proportions of the head and face using the Loomis method and a few other techniques. There is a focus on practicing on various head shapes and how to develop a likeness. This will include key considerations of facial features and how shadow shapes can help drive the process.

Developing strong portrait drawing skills is key to creating believable & impactful portraits in any medium!
